6th-7th March 2010 - The Scottish Game and Angling Show 2010

The Scottish Homing Union has been invited to bring a stand to this event. We will be there both days and since many of our members are also keen fishers and country lovers we look forward to meeting you there.

Our losses to birds of prey in flight and at our garden lofts are reflected in the situation faced by members of the Scottish Gamekeepers Association at their pheasant pens and on grouse moors and we share the same desire to obtain legal protection of our stock.

31st January to 29th March 2009 - SHU Exhibit at Kelvingrove Museum and Art Museum

The exhibition consists of various items that may be of interest to the general public such as a selection of old clocks, pigeons in war materials as well as items relating to racing and showing pigeons and coincides with their DARWIN exhibit.

Many of you will be aware that Charles Darwin was a member of pigeon clubs in London and studied pigeons in relation to his theory of evolution.

Kelvingrove must be one of the best loved Museums in the UK, many of you will be familiar with it but if you haven’t visited it make this an excuse to go. There is plenty of car parking (£1 for 4 hrs) and entry to the Museum/Art Gallery is free although most visitors give a small donation. There is a really nice gift shop and a cafe and right now there are an assortment of special exhibits including work by Scottish Colourists.

Thanks to everyone who has supplied information and items for display. I will man the stand on Saturday 31st and probably on several other days while the exhibit is on. I have permission to display three live pigeons in show pens while the stand is manned so hopefully they will attract a lot of interest. If anyone wants more information give me a ring at the SHU Office 01698 286983. LINDA BROOKS - SHU SECRETARY
